Silk is naturally breathable and temperature regulating. This means silk is the perfect sheet to keep your baby cool during those hot summer days
Silk's hypoallergenic, natural, and breathable qualities make it an ideal choice, often recommended by healthcare professionals for its ability to prevent allergies and skin irritations. We're proud to support The Lullaby Trust, furthering our commitment to safe sleeping environments.
Unlike full silk sheets, silk "sleeves" are narrow bands of silk wrapped around the mattress at head level. While they may be more economical due to less material use, they pose a safety risk as babies can get tangled. We prioritize sleep safety at The Little Silk and therefore only offer full sheet options.
To maintain your silk bedding, hand washing in cool water with a PH-neutral or silk-specific detergent is recommended. If you prefer machine washing, use a gentle cycle at 30℃ and a silk-safe detergent. For extra protection, consider a delicate laundry bag. Iron the silk inside out on a low setting and line dry to preserve its natural sheen. Do not tumble dry.
Despite their similar appearance and texture, silk and satin are fundamentally different. Silk is a natural fiber that is breathable, hypoallergenic, and temperature regulating. Satin, on the other hand, is usually made from polyester (basically plastic), which is not as breathable and can lead to discomfort, excess sweating and overheating. We do not recommend using satin for bedsheets, especially for babies.
While satin sheets may be more affordable due to their synthetic polyester makeup, they fall short of providing the comfort, breathability, and hypoallergenic benefits of natural silk. Essentially, with satin, you're sacrificing quality and comfort for cost. From a sleep safety perspective, breathability is key and that’s why satin is not recommended for babies.
While silk bedding isn't a guaranteed solution for uninterrupted sleep, it creates a more comfortable and soothing sleep environment. Its soft texture, hypoallergenic properties, and ability to regulate temperature can positively influence your baby's sleep comfort.
Yes! one of the reasons silk is so popular for baby sheets is their ability to remove frictions against your baby’s head. Friction is the main cause of baby hair loss which means our silk bedding prevents hair loss and promotes healthier hair growth.
Absolutely, the hypoallergenic and antimicrobial properties of silk make it ideal for preventing and reducing skin rashes. Its smooth texture minimizes irritation, providing relief for sensitive or eczema-prone skin.
Silk sheets are a much better choice over cotton in several areas; they're softer, cause less friction, and are naturally hypoallergenic. Their ability to regulate temperature ensures your baby remains comfortable regardless of the season.
Silk is a highly sustainable option, as it's a natural protein fiber. Unlike synthetic materials, it is biodegradable and has a much lower environmental impact. Choosing silk not only benefits your baby's health and comfort but also supports eco-friendly practices.
No bald spot, and a smile on his face when he touches the sheet with his little scratchy hands. A splurge but well worth it in my opinion! And you only need two on rotation... I hope they last for as long as his cot does!
We are very happy with our silk sheet purchase for our three month old baby. It is very soft and comfortable
Really great quality and nice design, washes well in the machine. Bought this as our LO was rubbing her head against the cotton sheets and the little hair she had was breaking - noticed the difference almost immediately since using the silk sheet. Will be purchasing sheets for her cot prior to her transferring across to it.
